đ âDear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that⊠they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.â â 1 Peter 2:11â12 (NIV)
đ Context:
Peter reminded scattered believers that earth was not their permanent home. Though surrounded by unbelievers and pressure to conform, they were called to live as spiritual exilesâdistinct and holyâso that their visible good works would bring glory to God.
đŹ Reflection:
Weâre often tempted to blend in with cultureâto chase the same success, the same shortcuts, the same self-serving goals. But blending in dims the light of GOD we carry. Our lives should reflect compassion and service to others and not just self centered desires for ourselves.
As travelers passing through, our purpose is to leave behind light, not footprints that fade. Good works create evidence of Godâs kingdom on earth. Even when unnoticed now, heaven keeps record, and eternity will reveal the true reward.
đđœ Prayer:
Lord, remind me that this world is not my home. Keep my heart focused on living a life that points others to You. Strengthen me to resist the pull of selfish desires and to choose service instead. Let my good works today echo in eternity. In Jesusâ Name, Amen.
