š āBut the Lord said to her, āMartha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are neededāor indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.āāĀ ā Luke 10:41ā42 (NIV)
š Context:
Jesus visited the home of two sisters, Martha and Mary. Martha busied herself preparing and serving, while Mary sat at Jesusā feet, listening to His teaching. When Martha grew frustrated, Jesus gently corrected her, showing that presence with Him outweighs busyness for Him.
š¬ Reflection:
We often measure worth by productivityāworking longer hours, juggling endless tasks, proving ourselves through busyness. But constant activity leaves us drained and distracted.
This lesson teaches us to pause. Like Mary, sitting still in Godās presence fills you in ways no to-do list can. Winning isnāt found in doing everythingāitās in doing what matters most, and that begins with strengthening your relationship with God.
šš½ Prayer:
Lord, slow me down when Iām tangled in too many tasks. Teach me to value Your presence more than my performance. Help me choose what lasts over what only feels urgent. Fill me so that I can serve from overflow, not exhaustion. In Jesusā Name, Amen.
